Police Believe More Than 90 Daytime Burglaries May Be Work of One Man

ASTON, Pa. (AP) - One man may have committed a string of more than 90 daytime burglaries, looting jewelry, cash and other items from residences in five counties - including a dozen break-ins on one day in August, police said Friday.

Police released a composite sketch from eyewitness descriptions of a man believed to have forced open doors, often while residents were at work, and sometimes ringing doorbells to make sure no one was home and pulling socks over his hands to avoid leaving fingerprints.

A task force - made up of detectives from Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Bucks counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey’s Burlington counties - met Friday in Aston, Delaware County.

Investigators said a dozen burglaries took place Aug. 18 in Chester County at ten residences in three complexes in Willistown Township and two in a complex in Westtown.

The latest break-ins were in Delaware County on Aug. 30, when two people reported seeing a burglar, police said. The same day in Upper Chichester, a person said he came home to find his house being burglarized.

The witnesses described a man between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing between 250 and 275 pounds, with a dark complexion and short, dark hair, who may wear wire-rimmed glasses, police said.
