MUSKOGEE, Okla. — An Oklahoma man didn’t let handcuffs hold him back from proposing to his girlfriend.

Police arrested Brandon Thompson, 35, on July 4 on six felony warrants, KRIS TV reported.

Body cam footage shows Thompson, in handcuffs, asking police if he could propose to Leandria Keith before they took him to jail.

“I didn’t want to part ways with her not showing exactly how I feel for her,” Thompson told CNN. “I want her to be my wife for the rest of my life.”

The officers said yes and even handcuffed Thompson in the front so he could place the ring on finger. Keith said yes and Thompson was taken off to jail.

“When you’re in love with somebody and you know that you want to spend the rest of your life with them, you just want them to know how you feel,” Thompson said. “I wanted a new start for me and with the police taking me to jail I didn’t have to worry about my warrants anymore.”

He was bailed out the next day by Keith. They plan to set a wedding date when his legal troubles are sorted out.
