In a video posted by the sheriff’s office, deputies can be seen attaching a rope to the rear door handle of the vehicle to create a safe distance between themselves and the bear. As soon as the deputies pull the door open, the bear swiftly emerges from the back seat and makes its way back into the Tahoe forest.

At the end of the video, the sheriff’s office shared photos of the damage in the vehicle from the bear.
