DECATUR, Ala. — Authorities are searching for the head of a northern Alabama city’s organized crime unit who went missing over the weekend.
Investigators say 48-year-old Sgt. Faron White was last seen working late Friday in his Decatur office where police found signs of a struggle. His family reported him missing Saturday.
A statement from the Decatur Police Department listed White’s status as “missing/endangered.”
A department spokesman did not immediately return calls Monday seeking details.
A rescue squad spent Sunday searching an area near the Tennessee River, but members would not say whether it was connected to White’s disappearance. Decatur is located along the river.
