CUMMING, Ga. — A Forsyth County deputy says he was fired over a Facebook post supporting a candidate for sheriff running against the current sheriff.
Rodney Pirkle told Channel 2 News he was fired 15 hours after he posted an announcement in favor of Duane Piper.
“I had a captain, human resources and two internal affairs investigators in my house, releasing me from my duties,” he said.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement Pirkle, a probationary employee, was fired because of performance issues.
