ALBERTA, Canada — An officer on neighborhood foot patrol with his partner was ambushed by a couple of tiny troublemakers with Nerf guns.
Const. Cameron Jones was speaking to some people and lagging behind his partner, Const. Brendan Fonteyne, Thursday when Fonteyne got an idea, Global News reported. He plotted with the kids to pull a prank on Jones.
“As I walked by, there was a bunch of children on a truck holding Nerf guns. I said ‘Hi’ to them thinking none the wiser,” Jones told the publication.
Fonteyne captured the video showing Jones pull some Matrix-like moves to avoid being hit. He shared the video on Twitter with the caption, “Yesterday, my partner was attacked by a group of youths carrying NERF weapons systems. Luckily, he’s got moves we didn’t know existed.”
“I heard ‘Get him’ and they jumped off. What you saw was pretty much my reaction,” Jones said. “I tried to dodge the darts as good as possible but… not so nimble.”

Jones and Fonteyne both agreed the prank was worth seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces.
“[Community engagement is] something that needs to be showcased with what we do,” Jones said. “We are human. Showing from that young, that they can approach us and we’re not bad guys. We like to have fun, too.”
