TAMPA, Fla. — Protestors at the Republican National Convention who were visited by law enforcement Thursday morning weren’t reprimanded or arrested — they were given handouts.
Police brought packed lunches containing sandwiches and fruit to the makeshift camp called “Romneyville,” where crowds of protesters had set up camp over the course of the convention in Tampa. Chief Jane Castor said officers had extra food and wanted to donate it.
The supplies at the camp had been dwindling, The Associated Press reported.
“We’re here to serve the public,” Castor said.
