LOWER MANHATTAN — Students clashed with officers trying to break up a fight at a New York high school Thursday.
In a cell phone video shot inside a crowded hallway at Murry Bergtraum High, law enforcement attempts to quell an agitated throng of students. Some egg each other on, and a teenage girl appears to strike an NYPD officer.
“There are fights just about every day,” history teacher John Elfrank-Dana said. “But this was one of the biggest ruckuses I’ve seen in a long time.”
Just one day earlier another fight broke out at the school and left a 16-year-old boy with a cut-up face, according to DNA Info. The 15-year-olds responsible were charged with assault, the NYPD said.
The NYPD issued six summonses for disorderly conduct and one for assault in connection to Thursday’s incident.
