ATLANTA — Police say officers fatally shot a person who first fired at them while sitting in the back of a patrol car.
Department spokesman Greg Lyon said the person had been detained Thursday afternoon in front of a downtown precinct. Lyon says officers returned fire after they were shot at, critically wounding the person, who was taken to a hospital.
Details on how the person got into the patrol car with a weapon weren’t immediately available, and police did not release the person’s identity.
Lyon says the officers were not injured.
