SACRAMENTO — Police arrested two suspects after discovering an online video that reportedly documented their attempts to confront a man, CBS 13 reported.

The hour-long incident was broadcast on Periscope - a live video streaming app. Sacramento Police told the news publication this is the first time they have encountered a situation like this.

The police identified the suspects as 28-year-old Damon Batson and 25-year-old Carlos Gonzalez. Gonzalez narrated the video, and claimed that he and Batson were on their way to “take care of” a man who was friendly with one of their girlfriends. When they arrived — armed with a gun — at the man’s residence, they discovered the home was empty.

“We’re very fortunate that it ended this way, that no one got hurt,”Sacramento Police Sgt. Doug Morse told the news site.

While the video was broadcasting live, users were interacting with the men by liking the video and commenting.

One user asked Gonzalez to prove the gun was real, at which point he fired the weapon on-camera.

“It’s not something we see every day, and it is almost unprecedented,” Morse said in his interview.

Police arrested Gonzalez and Batson Aug. 27. An investigation is ongoing.
