YANCEY COUNTY, S.C. — Police are looking for the suspect or suspects who fatally shot a K-9 while he was in his kennel at home.
K-9 Chris was found in his kennel with a gunshot wound at his partner’s home Wednesday WYFF 4 reported. He was taken to the local animal hospital where he later died. The suspect or suspects are at large.
“Chris was a beloved member of the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office for the past seven years,” the department wrote on Facebook. “The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved.”
The news station reported that the reward was increased to $1,500 on Wednesday afternoon.
Chris, a 7-year-veteran, was set to retire at the end of the year. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 828-682-2124.
