FONTANA, Calif. — A man who was shot and killed by police after reportedly firing shots and acting distraught on a golf course was identified as an off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy, KTLA reports.

Authorities received a 911 call that a man was in a dispute at a house near the Sierra Lakes Golf Club. The caller said the man was distraught and drinking before he allegedly fired shots into the wall of a home. The caller stated the man left the house and went to the golf course carrying two guns.

A witness said the man fired multiple shots while walking onto the golf course.

“Just started shooting. Shooting up everything. Scaring the golfers, shooting at the police,” neighbor Myesha Dowe told KTLA.
