TAMPA, Fla. — An Atlantic City police officer died in a one-car crash in Florida Monday morning.
Michael Wamsher Jr., a 10-year-veteran of the department, died in the Tampa, Fla. wreck according to the PressOfAtlanticCity.com.
“It’s just a shock to the department,” Deputy Chief Ernest Jublilee told the paper. “He was a good officer who was liked by everyone and did a good job.”
According to the incident report, the driver lost control of the car and swerved off onto a grassy embankment. The vehicle flipped, killing the officer and injuring the other passenger, Jason Pittaro.
Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt and it is not yet known who was driving, according to NJ.com.
