FORT BLISS, Texas — A Fort Bliss sergeant is accused of breaking an El Paso police officer’s nose during a confrontation outside a nightclub on New Year’s Eve.

At 10:43 p.m. Friday, police were flagged down because a man was causing a disturbance in the parking lot of Club 101 on Airway Boulevard, officials said.

Police said they saw Sgt. Chris Levi Brown cussing and yelling at club staff as he walked through the parking lot. While being questioned by police, Brown allegedly punched an officer in the face and broke the officer’s nose. Brown allegedly continued fighting until subdued by police. Another officer sustained a sprained thumb during the fight.

Brown, 25, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a public servant and assault on a public servant. He was released from jail Sunday night on bonds totaling $12,500. The officer with the broken nose has been with the Police Department more than eight years.
