SLIDELL, La. — The Slidell Police Department is mourning the loss of an officer who died in the line of duty Sunday.

Officer Theresa Simon, 46, was working when she experienced “presumably, a massive heart attack,” according to Slidell PD. Simon was rushed to the hospital but died despite lifesaving measures.

Simon had been with the department since 2002. Over the course of her career, she worked as a detective, field training officer and academy instructor. Simon also represented the department on an episode of the former reality show Live PD, “an accomplishment to which she was most proud,” the department wrote on Facebook. She is remembered for her professionalism and hard work.

Simon is survived by her husband, Slidell Police Lt. Kevin Simon, and her two young sons.
