STATESVILLE, N.C. — A probation and parole officer was killed last week.
Officer Jeffrey Settle, 41, was driving on a state highway when his vehicle was rear-ended by a van. Settle, who began working with the Department of Corrections in 1993, was on duty at the time of the collision, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Settle held his initial position for several years before being promoted to Probation Officer and working in Iredell County and Rowan County.
Probation officers in the state will wear black bands in memory of Settle, who was a husband and father of three.
