MUNCY, Pa. — A Penn. State Trooper was killed Monday afternoon when his Crown Vic lost control in the rain and collided with another vehicle.
Sgt. John C. LaRose, 50, was on his way home at the time of the accident. The occupants in the second vehicle suffered moderate injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital, according to the Sun Gazette.
LaRose, a 23-year veteran of the force and an Air Force veteran, spent 11 years flying in the state police’s Aviation patrol unit.
“He was a pilot of exceptional skill and a really nice guy. He was a very articulate, very intelligent man,” said David Frey, marketing director with the airport.
An avid sports enthusiast, LaRose coached baseball, was involved in the elementary wrestling program, and sat on the board of his local youth football program.
