VICTORVILLE, Calif. — A sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to 270 days in jail for having sex with an underage teen.
The 31-year-old deputy, a married father of two, reportedly had sex with a 17-year-old girl during ride-alongs in the Explorer program, which gives field experience to young adults interested in law enforcement careers.
Anthony Benjamin of the San Bernardino County sheriff’s department pleaded no contest last month to charges of oral copulation on a minor, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Benjamin could have been sentenced to nearly four years in prison.
Benjamin was placed on administrative leave and ordered to register as a sex offender.
