A former Clarendon Hills police officer has been charged with stealing five guns from an evidence room after a weapon turn-in program, DuPage County Sheriff’s officials said Friday.

Daniel Ryan, 48, of Westmont, turned himself in to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office on Friday and posted bond. He faces 11 felony counts, including theft and official misconduct charges. He is to appear in court on June 14.

A anonymous tip received by the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office in February led to Ryan. Authorities worked with the FBI to investigate the disappearance of guns from the Clarendon Hills Police Department’s evidence room in 2007.
