STEVENSON RANCH, Calif. — A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a solo vehicle crash in Stevenson Ranch, authorities said.

The crash occurred sometime Friday night, Aug. 26, in the area of Pico Canyon Road and Southern Oaks Drive, sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy Alejandra Parra said.

The deputy was found and arrested on suspicion of DUI, Parra said. He was taken to Henry May Hospital for evaluation, but he did not sustain significant injuries.

The deputy, who was not identified by sheriff’s officials, was relieved of duty, Parra said.

The deputy abandoned the vehicle after the crash, prompting a search, ABC Los Angeles reported. He was later found about a mile away from the crash at a home.

It wasn’t known if the deputy was on-duty at the time of the crash. Broadcast footage showed what appeared to be a department SUV that had crashed into some bushes off the roadway.
