WATERLOO, Iowa — A Waterloo man evoked the name of a local cop killer when he was arrested for allegedly calling in a slew of bogus 911 complaints Friday.
According to court records, Jason Lee Moore told dispatchers that when officers arrived, he was going to shoot them like “T-Bone Taylor” did. Police found Moore, 53, unarmed in the area of East
Fourth and Sumner streets, and he was arrested for seven counts of making false reports to communications officials and a single count of first-degree harassment.
He made a second T-Bone Taylor comment when he was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail, records state. His bond was set at $10,000.
Authorities allege Moore made seven unwarranted 911 calls between 11 p.m. Thursday and 2:55 a.m. Friday when he was detained.
The threats to shoot police came a week after James Michael “T-Bone” Taylor died in an Iowa prison, where he was serving life sentences for the deaths of Waterloo police officers Wayne Rice and Michael Hoing.
Moore has a history of making bogus 911 calls. In 2007, he was arrested after he reported a shooting and then told responding police officers that the victim had healed and he had removed the bullet. He also has prior arrests for threatening police.
