MOSCOW TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man killed in an accident at his home Monday night in Moscow Township has been identified as Tecumseh Police Sgt. Darrin Briggs.

A news release from the Michigan State Police Jackson Post Tuesday stated Briggs succumbed to injuries sustained when a downed tree he was attempting to cut with a chainsaw rolled entrapping him underneath.

The incident occurred at Briggs’ home in the 7000 block of Sterling Road and the MSP stated that an investigation is still ongoing, but foul play is not suspected.

Funeral and graveside services for Briggs will be private. Public visitation will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Eagle Funeral Home George White Chapel in Reading. Face coverings and social distancing will be required.
