Video: Bystanders rescue cop from burning squad

Several men came across the cruiser in flames in a ditch and worked to get the officer to safety

WILSONS MILLS, N.C. — Three men came across a patrol car that had crashed into a ditch and caught fire and pulled the officer out to safety Sunday.

The entire incident was caught on cell phone camera by another bystander, Kathy Hoffman, according to WRAL.

Officer Ashley McLamb was pulled to safety by Terry Joyner, his son, and a third man, after they managed to pry the door open.

McLamb suffered no serious injuries and was recovering at home Monday, according to the report.

Police haven’t determined what caused the accident.
