EAST RIDGE, Tenn. — A police lieutenant has been cleared in the Aug. 19 fatal shooting of a man who ran at the officer.

Lt. Daniel Stephenson responded to a call of a man with a knife when Todd Browning, 54, became aggressive, Fox Baltimore reported.

Police said Browning refused commands and continued to run at the officer. Stephenson then fatally shot Browning four times, according to District Attorney General Neal Pinkston.

Investigators found Stephenson was justified in his use of force and acted well within the law.
