SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Police Department encountered two officer-involved shootings within 12 hours, SFGate reported.

The first suspect had been shot and killed by police after a stabbing. The second suspect shot himself after police saw him wielding a shotgun outside a house and opened fire.

The first incident on Aug. 9 started when police responded to reports of a man stabbed in the torso, KSBW reported. Officers sent the victim to the hospital with serious wounds. They found a car matching the description of the suspect’s, where they were confronted by him before fatally shooting him.

The second incident happened six hours later on Aug. 10 when police got a call from the suspect’s sister reporting her 30-year-old brother was intoxicated, armed and threatening suicide, authorities told SFGate.

Police found the suspect outside and opened fire when he “racked the shotgun.” Assistant Chief Eddie Garcia said to the publication.

No officers were injured in either incident. The suspects’ names nor the names of the officers involved have been released. The shootings remain under investigation.
