Officer was shot at a stoplight early Monday

DEARBORN, Mich. — A Washington, D.C. officer was shot at a stoplight in Michigan early Monday.

The Detroit Free Press reports the 32-year-old officer was in the vehicle along with a driver when another car pulled up beside them.

A passenger shouted at them before gunfire erupted. Both the officer and the driver were struck as “an estimated four to eight shots” rang out, according to the report.

The officer was shot in the side. Both the officer and the driver of the vehicle sought safety at a nearby precinct of the Detroit Police Department, where they were transported to a local hospital. Both are in stable condition.

Police are searching for the shooter.
