CHESTER, Pa. — An officer with the Chester Police Department was shot during a response to a domestic violence call in a home early Monday.
According to the Delaware County Daily Times, the officer was hit near the waist during an exchange of gunfire with a male suspect, who was fatally shot during the incident.
Both the suspect and officer were transported to a local hospital, where the suspect died. The officer was treated and has been released.
Officers responded to the scene when a man exited the rear of the home and brandished a firearm. The suspect was shot multiple times, according to the report.
The officer shot, who has not been identified, is believed to be a 10-year veteran of the force. Police are investigating the incident.
