BAYTOWN, Texas — Police are still searching for the suspect who ambushed and fatally shot a deputy while he was reporting for duty Monday.
Along with additional video of the suspect’s car, police released video Tuesday of a potential suspect wanted in connection with Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood, ABC 13 reported.
Investigators said the video shows the suspect walking in front of the courthouse before and after the shooting. Officials said the timestamp is incorrect and the footage was taken around 7 a.m. Monday morning, the alleged time of the shooting.
Police said a fellow deputy applied pressure to Greenwood’s neck until he was flown to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
According to ABC 13, the investigators used the video to compile a description of a potential suspect. He is a white or Hispanic male, around 6 feet tall and has a stocky build. Authorities said he was wearing a jacket with a patch on it.
Houston Crime Stoppers, the FBI, the Office of the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division and a citizen are offering a reward of $65,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement that he is “confident the perpetrator of this despicable act will be apprehended and that the murderer will be met with swift justice.”
A GoFundMe has been set up in Greenwood’s name as well.
