FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Police in Arizona released video of a fatal officer-involved shooting of a man who brandished a gun.

The Arizona Republic reports that on Friday, Flagstaff police received a call from a woman about an armed man who confronted her. Officers Daniel Beckwith and Travis Rowden encountered John Hamilton and saw that he was armed with a handgun.

Police said Hamilton was swinging the weapon around and pointing it at officers. For nearly three minutes, Officer Beckwith told Hamilton to drop his weapon and warned him he would shoot him. Hamilton was shot after repeatedly ignoring the commands.

Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later found the suspect’s gun in the bed of his pickup truck next to where he was standing, according to the Arizona Daily Sun.

Beckwith and Rowden were placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation, which is standard procedure.
