I work for a mid-sized agency and frequently come across suspects with no ID on them. After being burnt once or twice by slick perps who had memorized another person’s DOB and SSN, I now ask them for some additional information they’re less likely to know.
“When was the last time you were arrested?”
“What was the location you were arrested?”
“What were you charged with?”
I then cross reference that to the information they give me with our local court data and deptartment call records. Most suspects who are using a friend’s or relative’s information will not have knowledge of that stuff.
