BENSALEM, Pa. — Two men have been arrested in the 1984 rape and killing of a 14-year-old suburban Philadelphia girl found dead along a road two weeks after going missing.

Bucks County prosecutors say one suspect is charged with rape and homicide in the death of Barbara Rowan of Bensalem. They say he killed her while she was baby-sitting his daughter and he was high on methamphetamine.

The second suspect is charged with hindering apprehension.

Full details on the arrests have not yet been released.

The girl’s parents reported her missing Aug. 2, 1984. Two weeks later, her body was found along a road less than a quarter mile from her home.

Police believe she had been suffocated.
