ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — A deputy narrowly avoided crashing into a wrong-way driver over the weekend – and the potentially devastating moment was caught on dashcam footage.
MyCBS4.com reported that the footage shows the Alachua County deputy swerving out of the path of the car, escaping an accident by mere inches. The deputy later catches up to the wrong-way driver and pulls him over.
The driver, who failed field sobriety exercises, didn’t know where he was when the deputy asked him. His breath samples were .236 and .227 – nearly three times the legal limit.
The driver was arrested and charged with DUI, according to the report.
