Dozens of Boulder police officers, department employees, and family members will participate in a torch run to benefit Special Olympics Colorado today.

The Boulder Police Torch Run, which consists of a one-mile walk and a four-mile run and bike, begins at 9 a.m. at police headquarters, 1805 33rd St.

Participants will walk from there to Scott Carpenter Park, then run or bike to Boulder High School and back to the park, where a cookout catered by the Lazy Dog Grill will be held.

Employees and other volunteers are each paying a $30 registration fee to raise money for Special Olympics Colorado.
