Video: SRO rescues ‘momma duck’ and ducklings

Officer Grant went above and beyond the call of duty to make way for these ducklings

PLANO, Texas — A school resource officer in Texas went viral last month for helping a feathered family in need.

According to the Plano Police Department, local students came to Officer Grant worried about a nearby family of ducks. The birds appeared tired and lost wandering around a neighborhood. Officer Grant and a school nurse worked together to round up the wayward birds.

A video posted to Facebook on April 21 shows the officer releasing the duck and her ducklings into a pond near the school.

Our School Resource Officer at Plano Senior High was advised by some students that they saw a momma and her ducklings in an adjacent neighborhood and were concerned for them. The ducklings seemed tired and were rounded up by the school nurse and Officer Grant. Momma duck followed Officer Grant and the nurse as they took the ducklings back to the school pond where they were reunited. Thank you to the kids, school nurse, and SRO Grant for taking time out of your day to make sure these animals were safe.
