HARTFORD, Conn. — Corporations from across Connecticut are pledging money to a new fund that will help workers affected by the school massacre in Newtown.

Legislative leaders said both chambers of the General Assembly will vote Wednesday to create the privately funded Sandy Hook Workers Assistance Fund. House Minority Leader Lawrence Cafero Jr. said several hundred thousand dollars has already been pledged. Wrestling giant WWE, AT&T and Northeast Utilities are among the donors.

The public can also contribute to the fund through charities to help an estimated 150 to 200 people who were “on the ground” during the Dec. 14 shooting and the following days. The list includes first responders, teachers and others who’ve suffered from mental health issues.
