During media day at the range at SHOT Show 2013, the temperature barely got above freezing and the wind was merciless. I would have quit early except there were dozens of new products that I couldn’t wait to handle.
One of these was the new Glock 30s.
The Glock 30s is a concealable .45 that holds 10 rounds. It has a short (3.78 inch) octagonal twist barrel, consistent with their full sized 45s, but the stubby version.
At 20.28 oz, it’s pretty small for a 10 round 45.
The Glock 30s is a hybrid. It has the 30SF frame and a Glock 36 slide, giving it some of the shooting characteristics of the Glock 21 in a gun less than seven inches long.
I expected the recoil to be a lot stouter. Not only was it controllable, it pointed well and produced excellent follow-up shots.
For officers who carry the Glock 21 as the primary, this is your vest gun.
