OMAHA, Neb. — Dash cam video showed a harrowing close call for two Nebraska State troopers, Omaha.com reported.
Troopers Andrew Phillips and Steven Peck were attempting to pull over a felon for a broken taillight last February when the shooting occurred.
The driver, Marissa D. McCormack, refused to pull over and led troopers on a pursuit. The passenger, Daniel J. Campbell, fired on the troopers with a sawed-off shotgun.
The shots went into the cruiser’s windshield.
Another trooper pulled over McCormack, but Campbell was missing, according to the publication. Campbell was found hiding under blankets in the backseat of a nearby parked car.
Police found 90 rounds of buckshot ammunition in Campbell’s backpack.
“He [Campbell] was loaded for bear,” Prosecutor John Alagaban told the news site.
A jury convicted Campbell of several charges. He faces 13 to 250 years in prison when he is sentenced in January. McCormack is still awaiting trial.
