Latham, N.Y – A creative recruiting video for the Colonie Police Department that was instrumental in efforts to attract new police officer candidates has been nominated for a national ADDY Award from the American Advertising Awards.

The video, created collaboratively with the Colonie Police Department and marketing agency Elevation Ten Thousand, was designed to inspire those interested in a law enforcement career to apply for admittance into the academy and to play a role in improving community relations.

Unveiled last year at a time fraught with challenging conversations about the relationship between local communities and the officers sworn to protect them, the video mixes humor and real stories from Colonie police officers to connect with potential new recruits and the results were a smashing success. The video has been viewed more than 32,000 times.

“The collaboration between Elevation Ten Thousand and the Colonie Police Department was a resounding success,” said Colonie Police Department Chief Michael D. Woods. “Our agency did not experience the reduction in applicants that many other police departments were dealing with. The video was also a tremendous morale boost for the entire department and something we take great pride in.”
