Video: Calif. officer plays hopscotch with homeless 11-year-old

While the officer worked on housing arrangements for the mother and daughter, he decided to have a little fun

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — A video of an officer playing hopscotch with an 11-year-old homeless girl has gone viral, KTLA reported.

Officers responded to calls about a suspicious occupied vehicle on the street when they discovered a mother and her 11-year-old daughter living in the vehicle, the department posted on Facebook.

One officer contacted the department’s Homeless Task Force to find housing, while Officer Pricer tried to have connect with the girl. He showed her “his expertise” in hopscotch.

The post garnered over 20,000 reactions and was hashtagged with “#Copslovehopscotch.”

This morning an officer checked on a suspicious occupied vehicle in the area of Graham and Edinger. During his investigation he learned the people in the vehicle were a mother and her 11 year old daughter and they had been living out of their car. The officer contacted our Homeless Task Force to help arrange housing. As the officer worked on housing arrangements with the mother, another officer on scene, Officer Pricer, began displaying his expertise in hopscotch to the daughter. #Copslovehopscotch
