Ore. state trooper critically injured after suspect rams cruiser

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ore. — An Oregon State Police trooper was critically injured Thursday afternoon when a fleeing suspect rammed troopers in their squad car on U.S. 30 west of St. Helens, officials said.

The critically hurt trooper was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, officials said.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is managing the investigation into the incident, which took place just after 3:30 p.m.

Officials have not publicly identified the injured trooper or released additional information about the incident, including why the fleeing driver was being sought.
