PHILADELPHIA — Two Highway Patrol officers were injured last night when they were struck by a stolen car they had stopped in North Philadelphia, police said.

The two officers and two from the 22d Police District stopped the car about 9:45 p.m. at 16th and Oxford Streets, just south of Temple University, said Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman.

After the Highway Patrol officers got out of their squad car, the driver “floored the vehicle and struck both highway officers,” Vanore said.

One of the officers fired, striking the suspect in a leg. The suspect, whose name was not available, was apprehended about 12 blocks away in the 1900 block of North 25th Street, Vanore said.

The two officers and the suspect were reported in good condition at Temple University Hospital. The 22d District officers were not hurt.
