Police1 Report:
Patrolman Leo Laffey, a 14-year veteran of the Crescent Township, Penn. Police Department, received a Life Saving award Feb. 8, from the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum for his efforts in rescuing a man from a fiery car crash last year.
Sgt. Alan Morrow from the Moon Police Department was one of the first to arrive on the scene and was very impressed with Patrolman Laffey’s heroism. Patrick O’Shea from the Beaver County Times wrote that Morrow said he believes the man would have died if Laffey had not been there first. He quoted Morrow as saying “We are really grateful that he took the action.”
Laffey’s storied career also includes serving as a firefighter for the Moon Fire Department for nearly 20 years and working with Valley Ambulance for 15 years.
The American Police Hall of Fame and Museum in Titusville, Fl. was founded in 1960 and is the nation’s first national police museum and memorial dedicated to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
