OXNARD, Calif. — Two people were injured Tuesday morning when an Oxnard police patrol car collided with a sport utility vehicle at Wooley Road and Pacific Avenue, police say.

Sgt. Lisa Ragone said the SUV was traveling east on Wooley Road about 8 a.m. and turned left onto Pacific Avenue in front of the police car, which was traveling west on Wooley.

On-duty police Officer Martin Garcia suffered a cut to his face and a possible broken hip, while 44-year-old Oxnard resident Margarita Sanchez, the driver of the SUV, complained of pain in her chest and hands, according to a statement from the Oxnard Police Department.

Garcia and Sanchez were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Ragone said.

Both were listed in stable condition, according to police.

Garcia was being treated in the emergency room Tuesday evening, while a hospital worker said Sanchez was no longer listed as a patient.

The Oxnard Police Department is investigating the incident.
