Officers are not sure why the doll was in the car seat

OAKLAND, Calif. — Authorities and emergency personnel were surprised when they attempted to rescue a trapped baby from a car, ABC News reported.

First responders arrived on scene Aug. 31 to reports of a baby sitting alone in a car seat. When they smashed the window of the vehicle, they didn’t find a baby, only a lifelike doll, Officer Johnna Watson told ABC.

“Although this incident did not involve a baby or small child, it was unknown at the time,” Watson said in an interview with the publication. “And first responders’ number one priority is to ensure ... safety.”

Although this situation ended with the discovery of a doll, Watson told ABC authorities still encourage citizens to report any similar dangerous situations.
