ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has a new tool to foster community connections: video games. More specifically, the agency recently unveiled its Mobile Video Game Theater – a trailer outfitted with LED screens and gaming chairs.

According to My News 13, the sheriff’s office hopes the trailer will help deputies engage more with the community’s children.

“The curiosity is going to be piqued. Obviously, the kids are going to want to play in it, but what we’re hoping is that leads to other conversations with law enforcement like what we really do, what our job really is and you know it’s just an effort to continue to build trust in our community,” Sheriff John Mina told My News 13.

The video game trailer made its debut last week and caught the attention of 10-year-old Brady Rosado.

“I never thought [deputies] would play video games,” said Rosado, who enjoyed a football video game on the big screen.

The trailer can accommodate 44 players at one time with 11 screens mounted inside and behind exterior panels. The trailer is paid for by department funds allotted to community relations projects, according to the report.
