LAS VEGAS — A family is in mourning again after the mother of a police officer who was killed in the Oct. 1 Las Vegas shooting died just two days after her son’s funeral.
KVVU-TV reports that on the day of Officer Charleston Hartfield’s funeral, his mother, Sheryl Stiles, fell down an escalator when she suffered a heart attack. Stiles was put on life support, but the Clark County Coroner confirmed she died of pulmonary arrest and acute cardio infarction.
“I was sitting up in the room crying,” Lewis Stiles, Sheryl’s brother, said. “We came to bury my nephew and then the next thing we know, I have to bury my sister.”
The family wants her body cremated and returned to Louisville where her side of the family resides, but it’ll cost $1,000 for them to do that.
The family set up a GoFundMe account to raise money.
