BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bystander video captured a police SUV striking a knife-wielding man who officials say was threatening violence against officers.
The Saturday incident began in a home before moving onto the street, according to WGRZ. Tom Burton, the attorney representing the officer who was driving the SUV, told the publication that the suicidal man was holding a 12-inch knife and the officer used the vehicle to stop the man from attacking another cop.
The suspect suffered an ankle injury, according to the report.
Burton told WGRZ the officers were not carrying TASERs at the time of their response.
Per policy, the department is investigating the incident.
