MIAMI — A Miami police officer who patrolled the Coconut Grove area and had been on the force less than five years died Sunday from an apparent aneurysm.

Miami police said Orlando Machado, 38, who was married and has two children, suffered the aneurysm Friday while off-duty and doctors removed him from life support Sunday.

Machado will get a proper police burial later in the week.

“He was a dedicated and committed officer,” said acting police chief Luis Cabrera. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and we’ve lost a member of our own family.”
