2 Toronto officers call for backup after allegedly ingesting pot on duty

TORONTO — Two Canadian officers have been suspended after allegedly ingesting marijuana edibles and hallucinating on duty.

CBCNews reports that the Toronto officers were not far from their station when they ingested marijuana edibles on duty Sunday. The officers reportedly began to experience “hallucinations,” and called for help after one officer ended up in a tree, according to CP24.

Both officers were found in a patrol vehicle and treated at a hospital. Another officer who responded to the scene slipped on ice and suffered a head injury.

The officers reportedly may have gotten the edibles from a marijuana dispensary Toronto police raided over the weekend. It’s unclear if the two officers participated in that raid.

The names of the officers involved have not been officially confirmed.

No criminal charges are pending against the officers as the internal investigation continues.
