LONDON — Police in Scotland on Monday charged a 30-year-old man with terrorism offenses after arresting him on suspicion of aiding a suicide bomber who targeted Christmas shoppers in Stockholm.

Strathclyde Police said the suspect, who is not British and has not been identified, had been charged under the Terrorism Act and would appear in court later Monday.

Police did not immediately give details of the charges.

The suspect was arrested in Glasgow last Tuesday by officers investigating the Swedish attack.

Taimour Abdulwahab, an Iraqi-born Swede who went to university in Britain, killed himself and injured two others when explosives he was wearing exploded in a busy shopping street in December.

The Swedish security police force said it was aware of the charges but would not give details. The prosecutor in the Swedish investigation, Agnetha Hilding Qvarnstrom, also declined to comment.
